Sorry,
I don't have the time to complete this Learning 2 program - the tracking log says only 3 weeks to go - I'm Over It - technology that is!
- have learned some new things over past 12 weeks - can't say that I will ever actively use them again though. If someone were to talk about podcasts, wikipedia etc then I would have a good idea what they were on about. Please don't ask for explanations!
- time is the major concern and whilst ones position does not involve being in front of a computer - finding the time amongst other work requirements is difficult.

Wk #7 Wanderin and talk about a book
Booklovers Wiki at Princeton Library is good. - For people wanting to make comments on other library wikis they too seem to be the way to go for those who wish to communicate electronically.
Wk #6 Wandering About the New Technologies
I'm not so sure I will like the library world of the future - Face to face human contact is fast disappearing - we all talk to machines - either with our fingers ie typing - or voicemail - or call centre machines.
Wk #5 I Love to go a wandering
I finally put a link to my gmail to the generator site I chose. Monty Pythons Silly Walks - funny - and has music background too. This is not so easy - finding it confusing.

Wow - yes yes yes ! finally got a handle on it all and added links to other blogs. Maybe should do this earlier in the day. The computers are down at work but the public internets are working and I've got time to play.

Ground Control to ......
I have a flickr account but the photos I have put there are for invited friends only, and not to share with just anyone. I was talked into setting up a page on Facebook and invited to join Bebo -both were fun to start with ( a couple of weeks) especially when I was sharing with friends in Scotland, however the time spent logging in and having to constantly update news - became quite boring after a while and soooooo time consuming.
Who has the time?
This is not really fun anymore - who has the time to sit and read articles on a computer screen. Time is precious.

Can't Believe I Wrote All That!
I was tired, and emotionally drained, confused, what will I write - in the end I wrote so much, it just kept coming. Talk about letting ones fingers do the walking - mine did the talking. To those who may have read my previous post - sorry!

Wk 3 Technophobia
I remember when I was young! makes me sound old, doesn't it. Typewriters were heavy clunky machines, the switchboard was operated with cords and plugs connecting outgoing and ingoing calls. Cash registers were huge and didn't calculate the change required! What happened to the letters we used to write and receive? Now people must have their mobiles turned on at all times so that they can be informed straight away.
Embracing todays new technology does make me very sceptical at times. I don't mind the 'private' sharing of ideas on blogs. However, do I trust using the internet? What of those people who find that intruding into my personal space is their aim in life.
I will admit that finding family on the internet has been a thrill - and someone did have to set up that particular message board in the first place, just so that I could just wander in, read and download. Communicating with someone who lives on the other side of the world and who just happens to have the same gg grandfather as yourself was a fantastic find. Knowing I could scan a photo or page from a diary and send it in an instant, made having use of the internet essential, even though it was at dialup speed no broadband available yet in this area! So much for progress.
The common ancestry was confirmed after I scanned and sent a postcard and picture from 1916 via email and in return received pictures and a newspaper cutting that proved the family resemblences and connection. Had I not used the internet I would never have discovered (well it might have taken years, if ever) the other family members mentioned on the back of these postcards that have been passed on to me or that I have a well known celebrity on my tree.
Change is good. It just takes a bit of getting used to!
